Teagan

Mcclarnan

Teagan McLarnan was born in Northern California. She studied with artist Frank Covino and then attended Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Connecticut. Upon graduation she received The Stephan and Lynne Wardlaw Prize for Excellence in 2-Dimensional Art and the John Stobart Fellowship Award, and since moving back to California has shown her work in numerous exhibitions throughout the state. McLarnan is an egg tempera painter, and in her debut with Sager Braudis Gallery, brings highly realized organic subjects in contrast with at geometric shapes and lines. Due to the inability to blend egg tempera, the sense of form is built up though many thin layers of cross-hatching and optical mixing. The traditional and delicate process allows the artist to be consumed by details that collectively make each subject whole.
