Rachel
Trusty
Rachel Trusty, a welcome new addition to the Sager Braudis Gallery roster, holds a BA in Art Education and Sculpture from the University of Central Arkansas (2006) and an MFA from Lesley College (2011). She is currently attending the PhD program in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Kansas. Trusty’s research and art-making focus on LGBT+ history, gender theory, and craft. The Mended Memories series explores the act of actively remembering poignant moments from a personal past. Transformed through the process of physical touch and repeated remembering, these mixed media compositions feature women in ambiguous same-sex relationships, historically purposely overlooked and erased, while drawing on the practices of traditional women’s work.
