Weiner

Mia Weiner holds a BFA in Fiber from the Maryland Institute College of Art (2013) and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2020). Her work has been widely exhibited internationally. In addition to her studio time she works as an educator and textile historian, including at the Textile Resource Center at the Art Institute of Chicago, and has been invited to be part of residency programs internationally including Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Vermont Studio Center, Acre, and the Icelandic Textile Center. Weiner’s work, involving the intimate manipulation of threads through both weaving and stitching, centers around connection - between bodies but also with and within cloth, as a place of shared experience. She investigates where bodies meet, cross, tangle, and pull away, while drawing on the familiarity and tactility of fabric.
