Luca Cruzat, a Chilean born artist, received her MFA from Southern Illinois University, in Carbondale, Illinois (2006). She also holds a master’s degree in foreign Language and Literature (French), from the same university (1993). The series “Square Constructs” is a meditative response to quarantine. Sturdy plates are best for geometric forms, but here the artist experiments with multiple flexible fabric plates, layered to create a unit. Other works by Cruzat in this exhibit utilize diverse forms of printmaking, but also serve as meditations on the everyday, from the repurposing of found materials as vulnerable print plates, to reflections on the little events of daily life.
