Murphy

Joseph Murphy is a native of New York, and earned both his BFA and MFA in Illustration from Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts. He has instructed at Syracuse University, Cazenovia College, and Pratt’s Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute, and has been featured by the Society of Illustrators, 3x3 Magazine, Creative Quarterly, and The Hive Gallery, among many others. In this work, Murphy channels Romantic Era thinkers as he conveys a vision of the transcendent and sacred through serene depictions of land, sea, and aged architecture. Water, a natural element with abounding mystical associations, features prominently and symbolically throughout the body of work.
