Jodie

Masterman

Originally from the South of Wales, Jodie Masterman moved to Knoxville, Tennessee with her family as a teenager. She earned her BFA in ceramics from the Appalachian Center for Craft, and later her MFA from Louisiana State University. Masterman creates objects rooted in personal reflection, each referring to an aspect of play, love, loss, or regret, inherent in all familial relationships. She shares, “My desire to make functional ceramics stems from growing up in a home where our meals, along with serving methods and the dishes used, would be carefully planned and prepared ahead of time. This ritualistic aspect of my childhood resonates in creating meaningful dining experiences in my adult life.”
