Jenny
Hager
Jenny Hager is based in Los Angeles, originally from Detroit. She holds a BA from Knox College, Illinois, a post baccalaureate from the New York Studio of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture, NYC, and an MFA in Painting from the University of Pennsylvania. She has been the recipient of two Joan Mitchell Foundation Grants, among many other accolades. Hager describes her abstract painting as an “investigation of an ambiguous, constructed, and animated space,” a description illuminating a process centered around exploration and a deep understanding of the effects of formal elements. Her viewers, as well, will find themselves rewarded for exploration of her compositions, which deliver wonder, intriguing tension, and a sense of the celestial.
