Frank David Valdés was born in Matanzas in 1988 and studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte. The artist sought expression through painting from early in life, well before his formal training, and it seems the immediacy, and playfulness of his natural inclinations persist. He says, “My work deals in the languages of pop art, expressionism and a certain strident vocation that can be associated with Fauvism; However, if something defines it, it is urgency, the need to live towards all extremes, to delay the ecstatic moment of painting itself.”
