Segura
Renowned Cuban artist Esterio Segura (b. 1970) makes his debut at Sager Reeves Gallery with the series In the Distance, in which creative combinations of materials and objects break with traditional media boundaries and incorporate legacies from Pop Art and Arte Povera. The symbol of Pinnochio recurs in these works as a representation of naive, unprejudiced interrogation of truth and lies especially in regards to political establishment and recorded history. Special thanks to co-curators Elisa Lopez and Gabriela Azcuy, whose collaboration on this and all of our Cuban artwork selections has made it possible to present this remarkable work.
