Seelie

Tod Seelie has photographed in 25 countries on five different continents. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, TIME, Wired, New York Magazine, and Rolling Stone, among many others. He has exhibited widely including at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art and the Philadelphia Art Alliance, and in 2013 published his first book of photography, Bright Nights: Photographs of Another New York. For the series, Cuba, Seelie worked to look beyond photogenic cars and florid sunsets, and found a country grappling with its history and its future, intense and exhausting, generous with its beauty and exuberance for those who could match the frenetic pace of its cities and slow to the contemplative tone of the countryside. These photographs are part of a multi-year attempt by the artist to show Cuba as he found it, and to capture a few moments in the life of an ever-changing place.
