Dablow
Dean Dablow was born in 1946 in Superior, Wisconsin. After training at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point and receiving his MA and MFA from University of Iowa, Iowa City, he began his teaching career in 1976 as the head of the Photography Program at Louisiana Tech University. The School of Art’s Director from 1997- 2007, he retired at the rank of Professor Emeritus. Dablow’s most recent work dis- misses the notion that a painting is a flat representation of a window through which a scene is conveyed. While these works could be described as sculptural, the artist prefers to think of them as paintings that push the viewer beyond the “window” experience of a single plane and bring about reflection on their objecthood.
