Stumpf

After several life-altering occurrences in 2020, Brenda Stumpf created the body of work presented in the August Exhibit as an act of reflection, leading to deep and somber introspection about memory, loss, loneliness, aging, and death. Her multi-step alteration and recreation of found photographs lends an apparitional quality to the figures of her ultimate compositions. Brenda Stumpf was born in Parma, Ohio. She is largely self-taught and began exhibiting her artwork in the mid-1990s. Brenda first exhibited with Sager Braudis Gallery in 2019, and was then selected as a 2020 Artist-in-Residence. Her residency session had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, but her studio work continued, culminating with this exhibit’s new work.
