Llanes Bultó

Andy Llanes Bultó was born in 1987 in Havana, Cuba. He studied at the Provincial Academy of Plastic Arts and later at the Havana University Institute Superior of Art, His work has been widely exhibited including at Art Verona in Italy and ArteMadrid in Spain, and is held in collections all over the world. Llanes first exhibited with Sager Reeves Gallery in the inaugural Cuban Contemporary Exhibit in 2018, and he then came to Columbia, Missouri in 2019 as our Artist in Residence, followed by an exhibit of the work created in residency, in April 2020. His work centers on the figure, rendered with academic precision balanced by expressive pose. Positioned as gods in the classical sense, his subjects both wield and embody forces of the natural world.
