While we may be bound to a fundamentally illogical world, this existential condition translates to an opportunity to tap into our innate, human impulse to tell stories and generate connections, which fuels a creative wellspring of significance. In other words, we could succumb to hopelessness, or choose to engage with the creative act of making meaning.
The artworks I’ve chosen, and the order in which I’ve situated them, aspires to challenge the viewer to confront ideas of the significance or insignificance of existence and individual experience. An idiosyncratic arrangement of these works creates an environment where viewers might temporarily withdraw from the monotony of everyday life and peer around at the uncomfortable feeling of ‘why.’
